Setting the Record Straight About Hurrdat Sports Bar & Let it Fly

Omaha has always been known for its rich sports culture. And in recent years, sports bars have become a hub for fans to come together and celebrate their favorite teams. In the midst of this sports bar renaissance, there’s been a lot of chatter regarding the connection between Hurrdat Sports Bar and Let it Fly. To clear the air and set the record straight, we’ve decided to answer one of our most frequently asked questions: Are Hurrdat Sports Bar and Let it Fly owned by the same group?

Hurrdat Sports Bar’s History: Born and Bred in Omaha

Before diving into the specifics, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Hurrdat Sports Bar is the brainchild of a proud Omaha resident who graduated from Papilion LaVista High School (just down the road from Hurrdat Sports Bar) before attending the University of Nebraska Omaha. The bar stands as a testament to local pride, ingenuity, and the love for sports. When we opened our doors, we wanted to create a space where fans could not only watch games but also witness live podcast and radio recordings, a first of its kind, not just in Omaha but the first anywhere. This unique offering has made us a go-to destination for sports enthusiasts from all corners of Nebraska.

The Collaboration: Hurrdat Media, Hurrdat Sports, and Let it Fly

Now, it’s true that Hurrdat Media and Hurrdat Sports collaborated with Let it Fly to develop and launch their podcast. In fact, multiple episodes of this podcast were recorded live at our venue. However, this collaboration was solely on the media front. When it comes to ownership, the two bars operate independently.

Hurrdat Sports and Let it Fly’s Ownership Distinctions: Debunking the Myth

Let it Fly, which opened in downtown Omaha in the summer of 2023, is backed by a group of investors from across the United States, including former NBA player Mike Miller. Hurrdat Sports Bar, on the other hand, remains 100% locally owned. This distinction in ownership is something we take immense pride in. We were established in Omaha a year before Let it Fly made its debut, and our commitment to the community has never wavered.

The Future: Expanding Hurrdat Sports Bar’s Legacy

We’re thrilled to share that Hurrdat Sports Bar will soon announce its next location. We’ve been searching for the next spot to call home for the last year with a primary goal that we continue to elevate Omaha’s sports bar experience as a whole but find a niche within a suburb where we can support at a micro-local level like we did in Papillion-LaVista . And, staying true to our roots, this new establishment will be 100% locally owned by the same individual who founded our flagship bar. Our mission remains clear: to offer an unparalleled sports viewing experience while celebrating our deep-rooted connection to Omaha.

Celebrating Local

As we continue to grow and serve the community, our priority is to ensure that fans recognize the unique identity of Hurrdat Sports Bar. Our collaboration with Let it Fly on the media front was a testament to our shared love for sports. However, when it comes to ownership and operations, our paths are distinct. At the end of the day, it’s all about celebrating sports, community, and local legacy. And we’re proud to be a part of that narrative.

For those searching for “Let it Fly” and stumbling upon this post, we welcome you to Hurrdat Sports Bar!
